Public Art Tour

On a windy day, I went on an art tour in the Loop……

I remembered that when I first came to the Loop, I was surprised to see many artworks. The first one that I noticed was the Picassos Chicago. From then on, I started to pay attention to them. I have visited some places and artworks before but I had no information about them. This time, with the audio tour, I could get the overall information about the artworks. An interesting one was about the idea of Crown Fountain, the artist wanted to emphasize that humans were made of water. My companion and I took a lot of pictures on that day. We shared our opinions on the artworks. I think that this is a good chance to learn about art and at the same time we know more about Chicago. Then I realize that the important aim of art is to share. It is how people share their views towards things around us and our life. It makes me think deeper about art and the motivation of the artists.

Chicago River- Architecture Tour

The Architecture Tour was great! I haven't thought that I would admire the architecture in this way. It brought me to the wonders of architecture. I realized that a building can be designed in a way that it matches its surroundings, for example the firm at 333 Wacker Drive and the 'Lake Point Tower'. They adapted to its geographic locations, followed the shape and the elements of the river.

I noticed the buildings also serve different functions such as commercial, industrial, residential and Car parks like the 'Marina Towers' and the 'River city apartment complex'. I could also experience different architectural styles. Each building has its own style. When we look at them as a whole, each contributes to the unique view of Chicago.

Architectural Experience - THE BIRD'S NEST

A close up

THE BIRD'S NEST

Last summer, I joined a trip organized by the government to Beijing. This was the first time to go to Beijing and I visited 'The Bird's Nest'.
It is Beijing National Stadium in saddle shape. It looks like a bird's nest because of its branches and structure. I visited at the time when 2008 Olympics was held and I am glad to have the opportunity to watch the track and field competitions. The opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics were held the the 'Bird's Nest'. It was amazing no matter I looked at its facade or the interior. I found it more beautiful especially at night with the spotlight.

Love in art *

THE KISS

This is 'The Kiss'. This is a oil painting painted by Gustav Klimt in 1907-1908. It attracts me because it is outstanding and its theme is clear.

The painter useded effective colors to show the beauty of love. The painter painted the two people in shiny clothes and used dark as background. He wanted to contrast the love and the surrounding and showed that their love was not restricted, but it could go beyond space and time.
